What are the requirements to obtain a Real Estate License in Alabama?

The State of Alabama REAL ESTATE COMMISSION requires additionally (to Licensing Requirements), a SALESPERSON applicant must, prior to taking the state exam, successfully complete an approved 60 clock hour Pre-License course. (Salesperson applicants have 12 month to pass the state exam after completing this course, if not, the course must be retaken.)

What does the Pre-License Course consist of?

The NSRE Pre-License Course consist of 11 Modules, 3 days of Cram Course, 1 Final Exam – (3 1/2 hours) and the student must score a minimum of 70% to pass the course.
All classes must be attended! You have 1 year from the date you enroll to take all 11 modules and successfully pass the course final exam.

Post License is mandatory for newly licensed Real Estate agents in Alabama

Within the first 6 months of holding an active Alabama Real Estate License, licensees must take the Post License Course.

What are the requirements to obtain a Real Estate License in Alabama?

The State of Alabama REAL ESTATE COMMISSION requires additionally (to Licensing Requirements and successfully completing the Pre-License course), a SALESPERSON applicant must complete a 30 hour post license training course within the first twelve months of licensure in order to be issued an original (permanent) license.
Further, the course must be completed and the original license issued within the first six months in order to maintain as active license.

What does the Post-License Course consist of?

The NSRE Post-License Course consist of 4 modules, in order to receive a Certificate of Completion students must take all 4 days and all 4 modules!

Continuing Education

The State of Alabama REAL ESTATE COMMISSION requires:

Every two years a total of fifteen (15) clock hours of continuing education prescribed by the Commission is required for renewal of an active license. These hours must be completed by September 30 of every even year. The fifteen hour continuing education course requirement is as follows:

(a) Three (3) clock hours in Risk Management – Level 1. In this level,brokers and salespersons shall take the Risk Management: Avoiding Violations course.

(b) Three (3) clock hours in Risk Management – Level 2. In this level, allbrokers shall take the Risk Management for Brokers course.

Salespersons shall take the Risk Management for Salespersons course, the Risk Management for Brokers course, or an industry-specific Risk Management course approved for Level 2 credit by the Commission.

(c) Nine (9) clock hours in Commission-approved courses.

The State of Alabama REAL ESTATE COMMISSION requires:

Additionally (to Licensing Requirements and successfully completing
the Pre-License course), a SALESPERSON applicant must:

Must have held an active real estate salesperson license in any state
for at least 24 months of the 36 month period immediately preceding
the date of application. AND . . . . .

Pass the examination within the 12 months following the date of
completion of the 60 hour Pre-License course approved by the Commission.
Broker applicants who fail to meet this requirement shall be required
to again successfully complete the Pre-License course.
